A quick and simple card for IBSIC #15...

I've been super busy making cards for my card company these past few days, but I still wanted to participate in this weeks challenge over at Inspired by Stamping.

The challenge is Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #15 and asks for a creation using red, white and blue.

So this challenge inspired me in two ways:
1.  To use a color combo that I don't usually use
2.  To create a quick, CAS card

Here is the inspiration photo:

And here is my card.  Hope you enjoy...

IBSIC #13 1st place win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I woke up this morning a little groggy and wishing it were Friday, or better yet, Saturday.  I thought I would take a minute and see if Joanna had posted a new challenge over at Inspired by Stamping and when I got there I found that I had been chosen as the winner for her thirteenth challenge. YAY!  I am so thrilled!

There were some amazing cards.  All the ladies who participated made such wonderful projects;  I feel so honoured to have been chosen from amongst those projects.  In the future, I will have the privilege of being a featured artist in a challenge at IBS; what an honour!

What a great day :)  I have some new blog-bling on the right-hand side of my blog, to admire, a winning card to give to someone special, a great new challenge to start thinking about, and guest spot to look forward to!

In case you missed the card, here it is again complete with WINNER badge.  Hope you enjoy...

Parisian birthday...

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It's the last week of school in my little part of the world.  I am looking forward to having Medium-Son and Large-Son around more and I know they are looking forward to the break, also.  For some reason I am really stoked about not having to pack lunches for awhile LOL.

Today's card is one I made awhile ago (as in July last year... where did the time go?!).  I think it will always remain among my favorites.  Hope you enjoy...

Joyously Participating In IBSIC #14...

Hello, everyone!  So it's still June and I've already started on my Christmas cards LOL.

The card I am sharing is for this week's IBS challenge:

When I saw this week's challenge over at Inspired by Stamping, I was instantly inspired to create a Christmas card.

It's a little hard to tell, but the wreath was stamped on very vanilla cardstock and then cut out inside and out and popped it up on one layer of dimensionals.  The 'J',  'O', and 'Y' were also stamped on very vanilla, cut out and popped up on two layers of dimensionals.  I am including a closer up angled view to better show this.  It really turned out beautifully.

Here is the sketch for the challenge:

And here is my card.  Hope you joyously enjoy...

IBSIC #13 Entry

This card is for this week's IBS challenge:
Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #13.

I found this weeks challenge particularly inspiring; the picture just pulled me in and left me wishing I were there.  I absolutely had to make a beach scene!

If you look closely at my card you can see: some light clouds off in the distance in the background; the beautiful sparkle in the frothy whitecaps of the waves rolling in; and the tangle of beach grass made from very thinly cut strips of cardstock.

Here is the inspirational photo (entry must use colors from the photo):

An oldie, but a goodie...

A few years ago I entered a card contest using this card.  There were many entries, but all my hard work paid off and this card won.

When I say, "hard work,"  I really mean it.  You might notice that the lacy looking border on the card is quite intricate and it was completely cut out by hand.  There are two layers to the frame; the bottom one had to be cut out around the edge, then the top one was cut out around the outside edge and then in the center (including in and around all the flourishes).  The lightest bird was stamped off twice and then stamped directly onto the bottom layer of the framed portion.  Then the next bird was stamped off once and cut out and popped up on 1 layer of dimensionals.  Finally, the darkest bird was stamped and cut out and popped up on 2 layers of dimentionals.  All of this done just to create an effect of the bird flying out of the frame; it was a labor of love and turned out great.

Sorry the picture isn't great.  It's actually as scan I took before I sent it off to my fabulous mother-in-law, the lady who bought me my first stamp set :)

Hope you enjoy...

I'm a WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you read correctly; I am a winner!  Well a top three winner, but a winner none the less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Can you tell I am excited :D

I was actually a little surprised that I placed at all; not because my card isn't awesome, but because the picture doesn't do it justice.  The card is amazing in person (in my humble opinion LOL).  The photo pales in comparison.  To explain how much they differ here is a little story...

My large-son was looking at my card and admiring it soon after it was finished.  Later that day I was finishing my blog post for the challenge, my son came up and was peering over my shoulder.  He became quite disgruntled and said, "Mom, you copied that person's card!"

I kept trying to explain that it was a picture of the card he had been admiring earlier.  He wouldn't believe me.  I asked him why he didn't believe me and he said, "because your card is WAY nicer!"

You can admire my Inspired by Stamping Challenge Top Three Winner badge on the right-hand side of my blog. And in case you missed the card, here it is again complete with top three winner badge.  Hope you enjoy...
